Scope and Content
Joseph White of Kempston, Butcher, aged 74, born in Kempston, lived there ever since (except 5 yrs during Apprenticeship at Roxton & father occ messuage but allowed Jos to occ as Tenant portion of premises incl land behind dwellinghouse
1810 conveyed yard in front of dwelling house & next to Kempston Street with some buildings thereon but NOT barn afterwards converted by his brown into cottage & carpenter's shop
Portion of exchanged strip & Ho & Butcher's shop which was occ by Jos (whole lot had recently burn down in a fire)
1845 Jos sold to Wm Longstaff he also bought messuage given to Wm. & sold both to Wm Rignold.
Contracted to sell to illegitimate Son Joseph White Lambert (commonly Jos White) only deeds conveyance
29 & 30 Dec 1792 from Wm Coles Dissenting Minister to Chas Stewart of Elstow, yeoman

Fire of Oct 1844 burn down:-
3 shops were in front yard of the messuage & were used as workshops on S W. AND cottage and carpenter's shop (made out of a barn standing in yard but on soutward side & more in front of dwelling house then occ by Mary Ibbs & - Craddock & previously occ by Ely Jordan J - Craddock & site of which cottage now forms upper part of yard belonging to cottage now occ by Wid Brittain & belonging to Jos Rignold & stands on pt of the then gateway & Tempsford
Late father Jn White d latter end of 1826 possessed for many yrs dwelling ho now property of Wm Rignold, occ
2 cottages by cottages by Thomas Wilshere & Thos Brittain).
Yard, garden, workshops, Barn & Building.
Bought from Stewart of Elstow (except small strip of land)
(SW side) on which was heretofore a house & subsequently also a Butcher's shop & fasting pen all since burnt down lying next to premises of Geo Joyce.
(strip was exchanged at enclosure with Marquis of Exeter)
Out of yard into village st since time of Hen Peck has been occ as 2 tenements by Wm Foster & Fra Brittain, subseq. by Wm Whittal & Fra Brittain, afterwards by Jas Bettles & Fra Brittain NOW occ by Has Bettles & Fra Brittain
