Scope and Content
An indenture of mortgage dated 17 Oct 1743 between John Wallis Jr, yeoman and Thomas and John Sibley, was made in respect of various meadow and arable lands in Houghton Regis, some of which were later exchanged at the time of the Houghton Regis Inclosure Act.
An indenture dated 16 Feb 1748 transferred the lands to William Westcomb.
An inddenture dated 27 Sept 1758 transferred the remainder of the term between
(1) Nicholas Westcomb of Cheverells Green, Herts, executor of the will of William Westcomb
(2) the devisees in fee in the will of John Wallis
Daniel Burr of Houghton Regis, labourer
William Whinnett of Houghton Regis, baker
John Whinnett of Harrow on the Hill, Middlesex, carpenter
(3) Thomas Hawkins of Houghton Regis, bricklayer.
(4) Christopher Warren of Houghton Regis, schoolmaster in trust for Thomas Hawkins.
Christopher Warren died in 1773 without assigning the remainder of the term.
By inheritance the lands passed to Mary and William Partridge and William Groom who now authorise Jeremy willias to obtain ltters of administraaion in order to establish legal title.
