Scope and Content
Includes roll of 1st Battalion commanding officers, 1922-1958; details of troop movements; parades and sporting fixtures; dates officers joined and lists of rank-and-file promoted to corporals and sergeants (some with army numbers).
Also contains programme and press articles on the presentation of new Colours to the Battalion by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother at Tidworth (25 April 1955), press articles on the laying-up old Colours at St Paul's Church, Bedford (November 1955), and a translation from the German press about the theft of weapons, ammunition and kit from the Battalion Camp at Goslar by teenage boys (11 March 1957).
The volume ends with a note about the amalgamation of the 1st Battalion with the Essex Regiment to form the 3rd Battalion, East Anglian Regiment.
