Indictment for Charles Harvey

The King v, Charles Harvey Court of Trial :- Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions held at Bedford Presentment of the Grand Jury :- Charles Harvey is charged with the following offence :- First Count. Statement of Offence :- Obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 Particulars of Offence :- Charles Harvey on 26th May 1922 with intent to defraud obtained from Walter Laughton the sum of £3. 4 shillings & 10 pence by falsely pretending that the name "P Jones" on certain paper writings, namely a wages sheet & a time sheeet, was the name of a person who had done certain work for the said Walter Laughton and was entitled to the sum by way of wages Second Count. Statement of Offence :- Obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 Particulars of Offence :- Charles Harvey on the 2nd June 1922, with intent to defraud, obatained from Walter Laughton the sum of £3. 2 shillings & 8 pence by falsely pretending that the name "P Jones" on certain paper writings, namely a wages sheet & a time sheeet, was the name of a person who had done certain work for the said Walter Laughton and was entitled to the sum by way of wages . Third Count. Statement of Offence :- Obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 Particulars of Offence :- Charles Harvey on the 9th June 1922, with intent to defraud, obatained from Walter Laughton the sum of £7. 12 shillings & 8 pence by falsely pretending that the names "P Jones", "W Brown", "J Johnson", & "W Gower" on certain paper writings, namely a wages sheet & a time sheeet, were the names of persons who had done certain work for the said Walter Laughton and was entitled to the sum by way of wages amounting to £7 12shillings & 8 pence in all. Fourth Count. Statement of Offence :- Obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 Particulars of Offence :- Charles Harvey on the 16th June 1922, with intent to defraud, obatained from Walter Laughton the sum of £9. 3 shillings & 10 pence by falsely pretending that the names "P Jones", "W Brown", "J Johnson", & "W Gower" on certain paper writings, namely a wages sheet & a time sheeet, were the names of persons who had done certain work for the said Walter Laughton and was entitled to the sum by way of wages amounting to £9. 3shillings & 10 pence in all. Date of trial :- 28th June 1922 Plea :- Guilty Judgment :- Bound over in the sum of £20, to come up for judgement if called upon within 12 months Presiding Chairman :- ??
