- Scope and ContentIndictment The King – v – Percy Bellamy Court of Trial: Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions held at Bedford. Percy Bellamy is charged with the following Offence: - First Count. Statement of Offence: - Obtaining goods by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916. Particulars of Offence: - Percy Bellamy on the twenty ninth day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty in the Borough of Luton in the County of Bedford with intent to defraud obtain from George Lake twenty eight pounds of Oats, twenty eight pounds of Chaff and one truss of straw by falsely pretending that he the said Percy Bellamy had bought a fish business at 102 Albert Road, Luton aforesaid and that he had a horse and wanted food for it. Second Count. Statement of Offence: - Obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916 Particulars of Offence: - Percy Bellamy on the ninth day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty in the Borough of Luton in the County of Bedford with intent to defraud obtain from John Lawrence the sum of five pounds by false pretending that he the said Percy Bellamy had a banking account and that he had six houses at Worksop. Third Account. Statement of Offences Obtaining Money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916. Particulars of Offence: - Percy Bellamy on the eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty in the Borough of Luton aforesaid with intent do defraud obtained from Ada Louisa Lawrence the sum of two pounds by falsely pretending that he the said Percy Bellamy had bought some chickens for her husband John Lawrence at the sale on that day at the sale yard at Luton aforesaid of John Cumberland and Sons. Fourth Count: Percy Bellamy has been previously convicted of felony to wit Larceny on the eleventh day of June 1919 at the Court of Summary Jurisdiction held in and for the Borough of Grimsby.
