    The King v. Walter Scott Potter Court of Trial. Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions held at Bedford Walter Scott Potter is charged with the following Offences :- Ist Count; & Statement of Offence :- Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- Walter Scott Potter on 31st December 1918 in the Parish of Leighton Buzzard in the County of Bedford being Clerk Officer or Steward to the Joint Committee of the Linslade Urban & Wing & Eaton Bray Rural District Councils appointed under the Household Fuel & Lighting Order 1918, with intent to defraud omitted from a cash book belonging to the said Joint Committee, his employers a material particular, that is to say the receipts on the said day of the sum of seven pounds & 8 shillings & 11 pence from one P.M.L.Carew 2nd Count & Statement of Offence :- Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- The said Walter Scott Potter on 25th April 1919 in the County of Bedford, being the Clerk Officer or Servant to the Joint Committee aforesaid, with intent to defraud, omitting from a cash book belonging to the Joint Committee his employers, a material particular, that is to say a receipt onthe said day of the sum of four pounds eleven shillings & 11pencefrom one J Banbrook 3rd Count: Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- The said Walter Scott Potter on 7th October 1919 in the County of Bedford being Clerk Officer or Servant under the Household Fuel & Lighting Orders 1918 &1919 with intent to defraud omitting from the cash book belonging to the said Joint Committee His employers a material particular, that is to say the receipt on the said day of the sum of for pounds eighteen shillings from W J Syratt 4th Count: & Statement of Offence :- Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- Walter Scott Potter on 31st December 1918 in the Parish of Leighton Buzzard in the County of Bedford being Clerk Officer or Steward to the Joint Committee of the Linslade Urban & Wing & Eaton Bray Rural District Councils (such Distric tthen being construed as a district under & in pursuance of the Household Fuel & Lighting Order 1918,& the said Walter Scott Potter being the duly appointed Local Fuel Overseer for such District) with intent to defraud omitted from a cash book belonging to the said Councils, his employers a material particular, that is to say the receipts on the said day of the sum of seven pounds & 8 shillings & 11 pence from one P.M.L.Carew 5th Count; & Statement of Offence :- Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- The said Walter Scott Potter on 25th April 1919 in the County of Bedford, being the Clerk Officer or Servant of the councils aforesaid (acting under the Household fuel & lighting order 1918), with intent to defraud, omitting from a cash book belonging to the said councils, his employers, a material particular, that is to say a receipt on the said day of the sum of four pounds eleven shillings & 11pence from one J Banbrook 6th Count: Falsification of Accounts contrary to section 1 of the Falsification of Accounts Act 1875 Particulars of Offence :- The said Walter Scott Potter on 7th October 1919 in the County of Bedford being Clerk Officer or Servant of the District Councils aforesaid acting as the Local Authority under & in pursuance of the Household Fuel & Lighting Orders 1918 &1919 with intent to defraud omitting from the cash book belonging to the said Councils, His employers a material particular, that is to say the receipt on the said day of the sum of for pounds eighteen shillings from W J Syratt Date of Trial :- 6th April1921 Plea :- not guilty Verdict : - Guilty Sentence :- I month in the second division Presiding Chairman :- Henry Martin Lindsell Esq.
