- TitleLetter from Reverend Charles Edward Searle to George Thomas Askew. Sent from Pembroke College Cambridge
- Date free text22 January 1875
- Production dateFrom: 1875 To: 1875
- Scope and ContentIs delayed in writing to George as his work at the College has grown and his number of students has increased for 40, five years ago, to now 80. Has received George's letter with the photograph of the youngest children but the earlier letter that George refers to with a photograph of George's wife a little Searle [Charles Searle Askew] did not arrive. Could George please send their photographs again. The information George received from Lt. Orlebar was incorrect and both the Alston sons are alive and well. Has read in the Times that Lord Carnarvon [possibly Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon] has decided to recommed the immediate commencement of the railway on Vancouver Island and hopes that this will generate a demand for George's lumber and the land he has purchased.
