    Information about Ilene Williams (1940-1993) and Claudette Carby, both Black women of Luton. Ms Williams emigrated to England from Jamaica in 1961, trained as a nurse at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, became a social worker and was secretary of the One Foundation in Luton. Ms Carby, aged 35 in 1994, gives an account of her progress through academic studies to doing a degree in Community Management and holding the position of Course Manager for New Horizons Course for Women Returners.
