Tomorrow will be the anniversary of Hugh's ordination at the cathedral in Wakefield. Hugh's father has lately been troubled with wheeziness and shortness of breath. Not returning to London till Thursday morning. It was a sudden decision to come to Vine Cottage for Whitsuntide. Comments about the whitewashing and repairs being done and the servants. There is a great deal of cleaning to be done at Vine Cottage before things can be moved from No. 75. Has told Kathleen that there can be no visitors till August and that she should come and help as soon as she is free. Should be able to leave Gunterstone Road empty by Michaelmas. Assumes Hugh will be back from France by the end of July or early August, and that by then will know his plans. Guy Beech has been for tea.
