- Scope and ContentWondering where Hugh is and what he is doing since letter of 4 April stating he was off for an 'unknown job.' Hope to spend 5 days at Bull Hotel in Cambridge. Have lent Vine Cottage to John and Cara for Easter, and Maude is going there as their guest. Had a wire from Hopkins saying the river bank had burst and expert advice was urgently needed. Expects it will be a costly business; awaiting expert engineer's report. Joan and David Williamson came to tea. He returned from the Crimea last February and was very interesting. Kathleen is due in London on Sunday to start work in the London office on Monday. Pay will be £3 10s per week. Kenneth would have been 23 years old on Good Friday.
