    3a) A letter from Singleton, 2 Stuart Street, Luton dated 13th April 1920 - Re. W Bell (juryman) Dear Sir, on behalf of Mr Walter Bell, Tailor, of Chapel Street Luton, a defaulting juryman, I am instructed to forward you the enclosed Affidavit with Doctors certificate exhibited in pursuanceof your letter of 8th inst. from which you will see that his absence was involuntary & he therfore hopes his fine may be remitted. Mr Bell informs me he is 63 years of age & in concequence of his ailment he is no longer capable of acting as a juryman & under these circumstances & the Doctors Certificate he asks that his name may be expunged from the jury list. Your faithfully E Singleton 3b) Affidavit of Mr Walter Bell, Tailor, 22 Chapel Street Luton ; county of Bedford Sessions of the Peace 7th April 1920 I Walter Bell make oath & say ;- 1) That I was unable to attend at the Sessions of the Peace held at Bedford on 7th April 1920 to which I was summoned as a juryman, through illness & I purported sending to the Clerk of the Peace my Doctors Certificate explaining why I could not attend. 2) I very much regret that owing to pressure of business for Easter I quite forgot to obtain the said Certifcate until too late to send it to reach Bedford on or before the 7th instant & I now forward it & I hope it will explain that my non attendance was not wilful or due to unwillingness to serve but to illness & that therefore the fine imposed my be remitted Signed Walter Bell Sworn at Luton this 13th April 1920 before me A. Frank Barnard, a Commissioner of Oaths 3c) Letter from Ravenscroft, Dunstable Road, Luton 10th April 1920 I hereby certify that Mr Walter Bell of 23 ?????? Luton has been under my care for some months suffering from Angina Pectoris in my opinion this serious heart disease renders him physically unfit for the duties of a juryman.
