- Scope and ContentThe County of Bedford to Wit} Victor George Arthur Wells of Langford in the County of Bedford acknowledge himself to be indebted to our Sovereign Lord the King in the sum of Twenty-five pounds and William Wells of Langford in the said County acknowledges himself to be indebted to our said Sovereign Lord the King in the sum of Twenty-five pounds. Whereas by an order under the Hands and Seals of Henry Martin Lindsell Esquire and Frederick William Western Esquire assembled at a Petty Session of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the County of Bedford holden in and for the Division of Biggleswade in the said County at Biggleswade on Wednesday the Third day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Nineteen the said Victor George Arthur Wells was adjudged to be the punitive father of a Bastard Child, of which one Doris Mabel Clarke had been delivered, and was ordered to pay to her certain sums of money therein set forth. And Whereas the said Victor George Arthur Wells hath given to the said Doris Mabel Clarke Notice of his intention to appeal against the said Order to the General Quarter Session of the Peace to be holden on Wednesday the Seventh day of January next, for the County of Bedford. Now the Condition of this Recognizance is such that if the above-named Victor George Arthur Wells do appear at the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held at Bedford in and for the County of Bedford on the Seventh Day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty and then and there try such Appeal, and pay such costs as shall be by the said Court awarded, then this recognizance to be void.
