    The depositions of John Turney Sanders of Sharnbrook in the County of Bedford Highway Surveyor to the Rural District Council of Bedford, Harry Forty of 138 George Street, Bedford, Solicitors Clerk & Alexander Morrison of Bedord, solicitor to the Rural District Council taken & made upon oath before us Walter George Hatfield Harter & Lindesay Beaumont Beaumont Esquires, two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Bedford. for the County of Bedford & for the Petty Sessional Division of Bedford within which the Parish of Goldington hereinafter mentioned is situated at the Shire Hall Bedford,on 6th September 1919, upon the matter of the diversion of a certain public road in the Parish of Goldington, leading from Putnoe Lane near Kimbolton Road , past Putnoe Farm to Renhold & Wilden, which the two Justices viewed on 7th August 1919; John Turney Sanders on oath said; I am the surveyor of the Bedford Rural Districk Council. The 3 plans marked A, B & C (QSR1919/4/10/1/10a, 10b, 10c) are identical, on them the metes bounds & admeasurements are shewn. That marked A was signed by me & I identify it as having been produced to to the meeting of the Rural District Council when the application made to divert the said footpath leading from Putnoe Lane near Kimbolton Road was considered. It is also signed by the chairman & clerk of the District Council. I have on several occasions visited Goldington & am aquainted with the ground. The red line on the plan describes the portion of the present Highway which is intended to be stopped up & diverted. The point "A" is on Putnoe Lane about 67 yards from where Putnoe Street joins Kimbolton Road, the distance from "A" to "B"is 374 yards. The path between A & B crosses the land of Applicants William & Edward Laxton. The green line describes the new highweay to be substituted from B to C. The length of this new highway is 187 yards. This portion runs over the land of the applicants & is fenced off to a uniform breadth of 4 feet. The path has been madeup with cinders & is a hard track. The new highway joins Putnoe Lane at point C which is 302.5 yards to the north or north East of the point A. Signed John T Sanders (1) Alexander Morrison on oath said; I am acting as Solicitor for Bedford Rural District Council. I produce an application made by Messrs. William & Edward Laxton to divert the footpath leading from Putnoe Lane to Renhold. It is dated 28th february 1919 , the plan A is the plan which accompanied the application. (2) In consequence of the application I received instructions to prepare an Agreement dated 22nd March 1919, now produced. The purport of the agreement is that the Council shall take steps to obtain ar the expence of the Applicants an Order of Quarter Sessions for the diversion & in part stopping up of the existing highway. The owners of the land over which the ew highway is to run, William & Edward Laxton agree to fence off the same to satisfaction of the Surveyor of the Rural District Council & to make it firm & solid & more commodious. The applicants & the Rural District Council have executed the Agreement. At the same meeting (22/3/1919) when the seal was affixed the Clerk received instructions to communicate with the Goldington Parish Council with a view to obtaining their consent & I was instructed on such consent being obtained to apply to the Justice to view. (3) I produced a copy of the Resolution having first examined it with the original & found it correct. On the 9th May 1919 at a meeting of the Parish Council of Goldington duly convened the said resolution was passed. (4) The Resolution produced is signed by the Clerk. The Resolution embodied instructions to myself to see that the Statutory Notice was given. (5) I accordingly caused the notice produced to be affixed to the Goldington Church Door, it remained affixed to the Church Door for the 4 successive Sundays. No Parish Meeting in opposition to the proposal having been held a further meeting of the Goldongton Parish Council was duly convened. (6) Held on 29th July 1919 when a confirmatory resolution was passed. On the 6th August I applied to the Justices to view. On the 7th August the Justices viewed & I was ordered to see that the Statutory Advertisements were issued. (7, 8, 9, 10) I produce the Bedfordshire Standard Newspaper of Auust 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th 1919 containing the advertismant. Signed Alex Morison. The said Harry Forty upon his oath said ;- (11) The notice produced & shown to me dated 15th May 1919 was affixed to the door of the Parish Church at Goldington & remained there from Sunday 17th May 1919 to Sunday 11th June inclusive. A copy of the notice produced & shown to me dated 7th August 1919 was affixed on the Door of the Parish Church at Goldington & remained there for 4 successive Sundays namely from August 10th to August 31st inclusive. A copy of the same notice was affixed to the place where it is proposed the diversion should be made namely at the point B & by th eside of each end of the new & old highway at points A & C & remained there for 4 successive Sundays namely 10th to 31st August Signed H Forty The depositions of John Turney Sanders, Alexander Morrison & Harry Forty were taken & sworn before us at Bedford aforesaid on the day & year first mentioned ; Signed Walter Harter, L B Beaumont
