  • Scope and Content
Thanks mother for letter. Sorry father is not back to best of health. Sorry to hear about Grandmother; had hoped a recovery might be possible, is it seems as if now she d 'losing ground.' Hopes Aunt Edith is improving [Edith Anne Wiglesworth, nee Longuet-Higgins]. Kenneth is gradually improving. Doctor Gibson has come out to have a general look at Kenneth [Dows?] and see whether and how much he finds him changed either way. Describes bob-sleighing. Has often been having lunch out somewhere with other English people, generally skiing with a party. Yesterday Mrs Dows came for lunch at Maran and enjoyed herself. The writer has introduced her to all the people she knows in Arosa. Has also managed to bring Freeman in to see Kenneth, and H Raverty came for tea on Friday. Names places he has skied to. Now the thaw has set in and the only exercise is walking. Avalanches have started rumbling about. Writer and Kenneth begin French lessons tomorrow. Everyone seems to be leaving Arosa now; some are going to Ajaccio in Corsica, others to the Italian lakes and others back to England. Shepard and Freeman leave next week. Writer's plans changed; when moving from here will go to Vitznau on lake Lucerne, making for Davos about the end of May. Nurse Cuzer arrives next Saturday.
