Describes improvements made to room, including candle shades, hanging an oar on the wall and an ornamental boat which stands about 4 foot tall. Rowing news. Bazeley is up; he and several others came to coffee. On Thursday went to heat Gladstone's speech about home rule at the Oxford Union. [William Glynne Charles Gladstone was the grandson of the late prime minister]. Sorry John's holiday is not working out satisfactorily. Reference to Professor [John] Cook-Wilson's logic lectures. Next week the Bishop of London is coming to Oxford to preach the evening varsity sermon at St. Mary's. Invited three freshmen to tea on Thursday.
