Take notice that I Hutchinson William Lathom of Luton, Solicitor & agent for Leonard Williams of 27 Hitchin Road Luton do intend, at the next Quarter Session of the Peace held in Bedford, to appeal against a certain conviction made against him, Leonard Willaims, by the court of Summary Jurisdiction sitting at Luton, that he on the 16th (26th) of March 1919 & on divers other dates within the proceding 6 months at Luton , being the occupirer of a shop at 27 Hitchin Road Luton did knowingly & wilfully permit the same to be used for the purpose of unlawful gaming contrary to the form of the statute in such case made & provided & that the general grounds of such an appeal are:- 1. That the term of 1 months imprsionment or any other term should not have been imposed upon him. 2. That the case was one which did not justify, even if the said Leonard Williams had been guilty, the said sentence, but that the magistrates should have considered the Probation of Offenders Acts. 3, Alternatively that the justice of the case could have been met by a fine. Of all of which presents you & each of you hereby desired to take notice. Dated 1st April 1919 H W Lathom of 10 Kings Street Luton Solictor & agent for the said Leonard Williams
