    QSR1918/4/4/1 County of Bedford to Wit: Walter George Purser of Gadsby Street Bedford in the said County Superintendent of Police. Acknowledges himself to be indebted to our Sovereign Lord the present King, in the Sum of Ten Pounds. John Bartholomew of Bromham in the said County, Cowman, acknowledges himself to be indebted to our said Sovereign Lord the King, in the Sum of Five Pounds. Ann Bartholomew of Bromham aforesaid acknowledges herself to be indebted to our said Sovereign Lord King, in the sum of Five Pounds. Fred Bartholomew of Bromham aforesaid, Labourer, acknowledges himself to be indebted to our said Sovereign Lord King, in the Sum of Five Pounds. Harry William Church of Kempston in the said County Police Sergeant acknowledges himself to be indebted to Our Sovereign Lord the King in the Sum of Five Pounds. The Condition of this Recognizance is such that if the above-bounden several Persons shall personally appear at the next Court of Quarter Sessions to be held at the Shire Hall at Bedford in and for the County of Bedford, and then and there the said Walter George Purser prefer a Bill of Indictment , and prosecute the Law with effect, and the said several other Persons give Evidence in His Majesty’s behalf against Joseph Baker and not depart the Court without leave, then this Recognizance to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. Taken and acknowledged the 10th day of September in the Year of our Lord One thousand nine hundred and eighteen at the Shire Hall at Bedford in the said County of Bedford before me, the undersigned, one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Bedford.
