THE KING against JOSEPH BAKER
NOTICE by the Director of Public Prosecutions to the Prisoner Joseph Baker that it is intended to charge him in the Bill or Bills of Indictment to be preferred against him at the Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions to be holden at Bedford on the 9th day of October 1918 with being A HABITUAL CRIMINAL.

NOTICE TO THE PRISONER
Take Notice that in the pursuance of section 10, subsection 4, of The Prevention of Crime Act, 1908, it is intended to insert in the Bill or Bills of Indictment to be preferred against you Joseph Baker at the Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions, to be holden at Bedford on the 9th day of October 1918 a charge under the said Act that you are A HABITUAL CRIMINAL and are leading persistently a dishonest and criminal life on the grounds:
(1) That since attaining the age of sixteen years you have at least three times previously to your conviction of the crime charged in the said Bill or Bills of Indictment been convicted of a crime within the meaning of the said Act.
(2) That having been discharged from Prison on the 7th day of July 1918, on the 4th day of September 1918 you committed the crime for which you are now awaiting your trial.
(3) That to Sergeant H. Church of The Bedfordshire Constabulary at the Bedford County Police Station, on the 4th September 1918, you confessed to have committed two separate burglaries in addition to that charged against you and for which you are awaiting your Trial between the dates of your conviction last release from prison and your latest arrest.
