    QSR1918/4/2/2j In the County of Bedford PETTY Sessional Division of Bedford. The undermentioned persons severally acknowledge themselves to owe to our Sovereign Lord the King the several sums following namely: - James Lester of 68 Pilcroft Street in the Borough of Bedford as Principal the sum of Twenty-five Pounds and Frederick Folkes of High Street Kempston in the said County as surety the sum of Twenty-five Pounds to be levied on their several goods lands and tenements if the said Principal fail in the condition hereunder written. (signed) James Lester and F. Folkes Taken before me the 20th day of July 1918 (signed) C. E. Layard Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid. The Condition of the above recognizance is such that if the above bounden Principal shall at the next Court of General or Quarter Sessions to be holden in and for the County aforesaid prosecute his appeal from certain conviction of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction sitting at the Shire Hall at Bedford in and for the Petty Sessional Division of Bedford for the said County bearing date the 13th day of July 1918 whereby the said Principal was convicted for that he on the 2nd day of April 1918 at Kempston within the County aforesaid did unlawfully assault and beat one Herbert Henry Palmer and that if the Principal shall appear at the next Sessions and prosecute such appeal and abide the judgment of the Court thereon and pay such costs as may be awarded thereby then the said recognizance shall be void but otherwise shall remain in full force.
