- Scope and ContentQSR1918/2/5/3(i)(ii) IN THE COUNTY OF BEDFORD APRIL QUARTER SESSIONS 1918 HOLDEN AT BEDFORD R E X (on the prosecution of Charles, Griffin, chief Constable of the Borough of Luton) -v- GEORGE WEBB MEMORANDUM of CASE On application for committal to a Borstal Institution. GEORGE WEBB (aged 16 years) on 30th December 1917 at the Borough of Luton feloniously did break and enter Christ Church and therein feloniously did steal a watch, cigar case, two one pound Treasury Notes and Postal Order for One shilling and Sixpence, value altogether Two Pounds eight shillings and sixpence, the moneys and property of William Henry Howard. He was charged with the offence at the Luton Borough Court on 2nd March and was adjudged guilty, upon his plea of guilty, and committed to the next Quarter Sessions with a view to his committal to a Borstal Institution. He also admitted the offences enumerated as follows: - GEORGE WEBB 1. Stealing two rabbits value 11/- between 1st and 2nd February 1918, property of Percy C. Holdham. 2. Stealing 3 fowls value 30/- between 11th and 12th February 1918 property of Arthur William Hawkins. 3. Breaking and entering Christ Church and stealing a watch, cigar case, two £1 Treasury Notes and 1/6 P.O. value £2.8.6. on 30th December 1917, property of William H. Howard. 4. Stealing two prize rabbits value 25/- between 4th and 5th February 1918, property of Benjamin B. Mantell. 5. Stealing two fowls value 20/- on 19th February property of Mr. Thrale. 6. Stealing four fowls value 30/- between 20th and 21st February 1918, property of Daisy Lilian White. 7. Stealing pair of eyeglasses value 5/- between 7th and 8th January 1918 property of Kathlen Toyer. 8. Stealing pair of boots value 10/- between 5th and 7th January 1918, property of Frederick William Grover. 9. Stealing Lady’s bicycle value £4 on 24th January 1918 property of Millie Smith. 10. Stealing fountain pen value 10/- on 6th January 1918 property of W.H. Thompson. 11. Stealing glass and knife value 5/- between 2nd and 4th February 1918, property of Hewlett & Blondeau.
