- Scope and ContentBegs to State. Your Worship, My name is Owen Reginal Kilcommon, the assumed name of James Marsden is me which I assumed when I rejoined the Army. I am sorry for this offence & will make every restitution to Pte. Pateman, I will ask my commanding officer to stop my army pay & hand it to Pte. Pateman until it is all paid back. I was under the influence of drink at the time & did not realise what I was doing. We had been drinking together the previous evening & I was suffering from its efffect next day & consequently took more drink which caused me to take the money. I was not actuated my any sence of gain or had I any ill feeling towards Pateman it was simply done on the impulse of a moments temptation. I did not know he had any money until I went to his coat pocket in search of matches (a usual thing amongst comrades) This crime led me on until I committed myself again, but I have been honest since 1911 until this happened & I beg for leniency. It is my desire to join the first draft leaving for France or any other front. I have been in Prison awaiting trial 2 months, may I ask for this to be taken into consideration. I respectfully beg to remain, your Humble servant Owen Regiald Kilcommon alias James Marsden.
