    Attested Copy. Marriage Settlement. (i) John Bettesworth of the Hyde otherwise East Hyde, only son and heir of John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws, late Chancellor of the diocese of London by Frances his wife both deceased. (ii) Francis Tomkins of Oxendon Street in the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields in the County of Middlesex, and Frances Tomkins Spinster eldest daughter (iii) Thomas Purnell Purnell of Lincolns Inn in the County of Middlesex, Esquire and Michael Bray of Lincolns Inn, Esquire (iv) Edmund Bettesworth of Islington, Clerk. Recites impending marriage of John Bettesworth and Frances Tomkins Portion £2000 Property: -All that the Manor of East Hyde in the counties of Bedford and Hertford or one of them with the rights, members, and appurtenances belonging - Capital messuage or mansion house commonly called or known by the name of the Hyde otherwise East Hide with all houses, outhouses, dovehouses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, yards, gardens, orchards, backsides and other appurtenances belonging. - Closes, fields, land, arable, meadow, pasture, feedings, leys, woods, underwoods, wood grounds and spring belonging or appertaining to the manor and capital messuage. - messuage or tenement and farm with the lands hereditaments and appurtenances belonging heretofore in the occupation of John Davis and since William Young his undertenants or assigns - Cottage or tenement now or late divided into two dwellings with their appurtenances siutate and being at East Hyde, formerly in the tenure or occupation of John Custerton and since of Benjamin Durham and William Kilby - Two closes of meadow, pasture and grass ground containing by estimation two acres. The highway leading from Luton towards Westhampstead on the west part and the Commonfiled called Hyde Mill field on the the east part. - pieces or parcells of arable land or ley ground with the appurtenances situation lying and being in the common field called Hyde Mill field in the parish of Luton. One piece containing by estimation 1 and half acres, 32 and half poles lying between the lands of Mrs Nicholls on both sides and abbutting on the the said closes. The other piece containing by estimation 1 rood and 10 and a half poles lying next to the land heretofore of Thomas King called Barley piece on the easy side. All which said premises were heretofore in the occupation of John Custerton and afterwards in the occupation of Benjamin Durham and William Kilby and purchased by the late John Bettesworth (the father) from Charles Floyer, esquire. - 8 acres of land in the Hyde Common field, lately conveyed in exchange by the Right Honour Earl of Bute to John Bettesworth (the father) for two cottages or tenements called the Block houses with their appurtenances situate at or near Ashwell Bridge in the parish of Luton - Captial messuage tenement or farm house and all those closes, lands and hereditaments situate lying and being in Northall in the parish of Edlesborough in the county of Buckinghamshire in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Coleman and now of [blank] Swaine - Arable ley meadow and pasture grounds, lands and hereditaments of (i) situate in the Common fields, common meadows and commonable places of Edlesborough, Northall and Dagnall in the parish of Edlesborough. Last mentioned capital messuage, lands and hereditaments were purchased by and conveyed to or in trust for John Bettesworth, doctor of laws, deceased late grandfather of (i) by indenture of bargain and sale inrolled in the High Court of Chancery 15 August 1735 and made between Thomas Aynscombe Eqsquire and Ann his wife and John Bettesworth (grandfather), and John Andrew. - Cottages or tenements situate in the parish of Edlesborough purchased by and conveyed to John Bettesworth (Grandfather) by indentures of lease and release of 23rd and 24th March 1743 between Harry Stoinell yeoman and ann his wife, and John Bettesworth (grandfather) - messauge or tenement at Northall in the occupation of John Wells and purchased by John Bettesworth (grandfather) of Robert Nash, Yeoman, and Thomas Nash, yeoman and his wife Elizabeth by lease and release of 2nd and 3rd November 1746. Of which the several messuages in the parish of Edlesborough were conveyed by settlement made on the marriage of John Bettesworth (father) and Frances his wife by lease and release of 23rd and 24 March 1753. - farm rents in the counties of Worcester, Warwick and Leicester, and Buckinghamshire
