    Articles of agreement between John Pierson of Kempston, yeoman and John White of Kempston, yeoman for farm let. Term 9 years. Rent £49 per annum. John Pierson lets to John White - Messuage house with appurtenances lately in occupation of Edward Ridge and now in his own occupation with all barns, edifices, lands and meadows excepting all timber trees and other trees lops and the lops of trees and plashings and shreddings of the hedges to be spent upon the premisses, the scouring of ditches and keeping of fences in tenable repair from the feast of the annunciation of the virgin Mary 1710. John White shall not plough up or commit to tillage any of the pasture ground or meadow. He shall: bring to and lay in the barns all the corn, grain and hay; fodder out the straw; spread the dung, manure and compost, and when he quits at the end of the term shall leave as many loads of dung and compost as he shall receive at his entrance. John Pierson to put all into tenantable repair and then John White to maintain it in that repair. John Pierson will at his own cost build a new garner house of one bay, and a double loft over it and will the next year fence in with Furzen all that piece of arable land being 12 acres at the home close end. John Pierson to pay all the taxes belonging to the landlord and John White to pay all taxes belonging to the tenant. John Pierson to be allowed to either take off or continue upon the premises all his hay and grain till he can dispose of it to his liking and to have the use of the farm till the next crop is laid in and threshed out; John White to have the same privileges at his going off. Lease to be drawn sometime before next Lady day. Signed John Pierson, John White.
