    Allegation: George Gates of Westoning, a widower, to marry Sarah Hack of Hockliffe,aged 18 with the consent of her father. George Gates signed by his mark. The consent of Thomas Hack, father of the bride was attested to by William Mead and William Millard, as follows. "Thomas Hack having in consequence of the ill behaviour of his daughter sworn never to put pen to paper in her favour, his verbal consent was taken - it was 10 o'clock in the morning, the man was pretty sober & in the presence of Mr W. Millard, his wife and family & the consent was perfectly voluntary".
