    QSR1914/10/2b (i) No. 2 Depositions of John William Tomlinson in the Matter of Cowridge End Footpath Diversion QSR1914/10/2b (ii) No.2 Borough of Luton. The Depositions of John William Tomlinson of Luton in the County of Bedford Surveyor to the Town Council of Luton taken and made before us Herbert Owen Williams and Robert Smith Tomson Esquire two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the said Borough of Luton acting in and for the said Borough at the Magistrates Court Luton aforesaid the 13th day of May 1914 upon the matter of stoping up and diversion of a certain footpath situated at Cowridge End within the Borough of Luton which we the said Justices viewed on the 9th day of April last. ------------------------ QSR1914/10/2b (iii) QSR1914/10/2b (iv) The said John William Tomlinson upon his oath saith:- I produce the Plan hereunto annexed marked “I2 and signed by me which well describes the present footpath or public highway situated at Cowridge End within the Borough of Luton a part whereof is intended to be stopped up and diverted and the Lands through which the proposed footpath or public highway in lieu thereof is untended to be made and also the proposed diversion and the metes bounds and admeasurements marked thereon are correct. I also produce the certified copy marked “J” of the minutes of a meeting held on the 6th day of December 1910 of the Town Council of the Borough of Luton within which Borough the said footpath or public highway is situated consenting to such stopping up and diversion of the said footpath or public highway. I produce the consent marked “K” of the owners of the lands through which the proposed footpath or public highway is intended to be made consenting to such diversion. I produce a duplicate Notice marked “L” signed by me as Surveyor to the said Luton Town ------------------------------ QSR1914/10/2b (v) Council of the intended application to the court of Quarter Sessions for an Order for stopping up and diverting a portion of the said footpath. A duplicate of the notice signed by me as aforesaid was affixed on the 11th day of April; 1914 by the side of and at each end of the said footpath and at the end of the new footpath or public highway proposed to be made in lieu thereof and the same notice remained there for the four successive weeks as from the said 11th day of April 1914 and the same notice was inserted in the “Luton News” being a newspaper ------------------------------ QSR1914/10/2b (vi)(vii) circulated within the said Borough of Luton on the `16th, 23rd and 30th days of April and the 7th day of May 1914 copies of which papers are annexed hereto and marked “M””N””O” and “P”. On Sunday the 12th, 19th and 26th days of April and 3rd day of May 1914 like notices were affixed on the door of the Luton Parish Church and St. Matthews Parish Church at Luton. The foregoing deposition of John William Tomlinson was taken and sworn before ua at Luton aforesaid on the day and year first before written.
