    Richard Astry Bourne Orlebar was born on 7th October 1894 to parents Richard Rouse Boughton Orlebar and Faith Henrietta Bourne. He married Barbara Pilcher (1909-1995) in 1935 and they had three children: Richard Michael, Robert (Bobby) and Lucy Mary. Richard was Vice Lieutenant for Bedfordshire and Lord of the Manor of Podington. He died on 29th April 1980. MILITARY HISTORY: Aug 1914 - Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment Mar 1915 - Left for France May 1915 - Promoted to Lieutenant Wounded during battle and sent home on hospital ship Nov 1915 - Promoted temporary Captain Apr 1917 - Posted to Salonica and wounded again Nov 1917 - Begins working for MI5 Apr 1918 - Appointed to duty with the War Office in the Air Intelligence Department with the Royal Air Force Apr 1921 - Mobilised again for service during the General Strike Nov 1930 - Resigned his commission on the Regular Army Reserve of Officers on the grounds of ill health. Dec 1939 - Applied for a posting with the Army Officers Emergency Reserve
