Recognizance; on 24th March 1911 Edward Miller of Evershot, a labourer & Charles Miller of Evershot also a labourer came before the undersigned, one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace , & acknowledged themselves to owe the Sovereign several sums, that is to say both owed £20.00 of lawful money to be made & levied on their Good & Chattels, Lands & Tenements to the use of our Lord the King, his Heirs & successors if he the said Edward Miller shall fail in the condition endorsed . Taken & acknowledged the day & year first above mentioned at Woburn in the County of Bedford before C. Charnock Smith, Justice of the Peace

Scope and Content
The Condition of the within wrirren Recognizance is such that the said Edward Miller (the defendant) was this day charged before certain Justices of the Peace of the County of Bedford, that he on the 19th March 1911 in the parish of Tingrith did then & there unlawfully & indecently assault a certain female to wit Sarah Susannah Burden of Eversholt being then a young person under the age of thirteen years, to wit nine years. If therfor he the defendant shall appear at the next Court of General Quarter Sessions to be holden in the County of Bedford & there surrender himself into the custody of the Keeper of the prison there & plead to such Indictment as may be found against him by the Grand Jury in respect of the charge aforesaid & take his trial upon the same & not depart the court without leave then the said Recognizance to be void or else to stand in full force & virtue.
