My Address: Mrs Walker C/o Mrs Kean N.E. Marine Engine Works, So. Docks Sunderland. Mrs Ettie Walker Alias Edie Schaeffer C/o Mrs Kean N.E. Marine Engine Works, So. Docks Sunderland. Dear Sir, I am very sorry to trouble you with these letters which I shall be much obliged to you if you will do your best for me at the trial of my Husband A. E. Walker alias Schaeffer whom now is in Bedford Prison and is to be tried on the 25th I came to Bedford Tuesday last thinking the trial was to take place on the 18th but it was put off I am sorry I shall not be able to be at the Court at his Trial as it all means expense coming from here only I feel it very much at him to have to be tried and not one friend there to speak for him as all his friends are in America so Sir do please try and do what you can for him as I know although there has been two previous charges against him I know this one is not true as he had no more intension of selling the machine than had my little boy whom is only 6 years of age and to whom the trouble was caused over before, for had it not been for him my Husband would never have been in trouble but he was out of Work and also myself as our work been in the profession was very hard to get at the time and we were starving and my little boy turned very poorly and was always crying with hunger till at last my husband was driven to steal and God knows he is now suffering for it and Sir after the trial will you be as kind as to return me the letters which I have enclosed and Sir you will also see at the time there was many laying at the P. Office for my Husband which was returned America again after laying there 15 days without been claimed so Sir I will now close and hoping you will do your best for the sake of our little one that has to be born in March as I think I shall go made if my Husband is there when it is born and please excuse my writing as I am not very well today and oblige I am. Respectfully yours Edie Schaeffer
