83 Russell Road Bower Park. 19/10/11 Dear Henry, I received your letter and was sorry to hear that the Sessions had been postponed for another week. The last three months for you have no doubt been terrible, but soon all suspense will be over. Is it quite legal you being kept so long awaiting your trial. Of course, the Habeas Corpus Act decrees that no personal must be detained longer than three months before appearing before the Judge. But I think your detention exceeds this and it is not always easy to call those in authority to order. You must do your best to keep up your spirits and if you put your trust and faith in God. He will never leave you nor forsake you. [Ralph] is still out of a situation he says he will write to you and I daresay will tell you some local news. A tragedy occurred last night at the corner of Marlborough Road just opposite Sharnbrook’s and a young man named Williams has been arrested on a charge of murdering an older man a called King. I suppose two drunkards but I would rather not write about such things. Now dear Henry whatever you do don’t lose heart. When God knows you are penitent and are resolved to do better he will give you support under any ordeal but let there be no backsliding. I pray daily that you may be allowed a chance. Now I must finish. With Love from all your affectionate Mother
