Indictment for Charles Henry Williams

Charged that on 13th July 1913 at Stevington he unlawfully, knowingly & designedly did falsely pretend to Jesse William Cowley that he represented Thridgoulds of London, (Thridgoulds then being well known to Mr Cowley) & that he was authorised by them to take orders for the supply of picture postcards & to receive money on their behalf in respect of such orders. Mr Williams obtained the sum of 7 shillings & 6 pence from Mr Cowley by this false pretence. Plea; Not guilty Verdict; Guilty Sentence; 3 months imprisonment with hard labour
