Letter reads; Your Worship, Amos Clark, remander from Luton, on housebreaking charges, on the evening of his hearing before our Boro. Bench, explained to one his great regret for the wrong he had done. Drinking Companions being the cause of his downfall. He at the same time Sept 21st signed the pledge. He has been working since that date quick steadily and living a straighter life. If your Worship can lean towards leniency, I will undertake to keep a hold upon him for the future Yours respectfully E J Hawkes
