    Thomas Lineham & family together with his brothers Alfred & Harry and their families of Lidlington and Richard Allen & family of Ridgmont - emigrated 1874 after being recruited by Joseph Arch's National Agricultural Labourers Union probably by Andrew Duncan who held a meeting in Lidlington in April 1874. Charles Welch & family from Lidlington and Joseph Fuller & family from Cardington. Includes a letter printed in The English Labourer 13 November 1874 from Thomas Lineham to his parents in England giving an account of their relatively prosperous life in Karamea Settlement, New Zealand.
