    Calendar of prisoners to be tried at Quarter Sessions held at Bedford on 1st day of January 1908. Columns headed: Name, Age, Trade, Name and Address of Magistrate, Date of Warrant, When received into Custody, Offence, When Tried, Before Whom Tried, Verdict, Previous Convictions, Sentence. Samuel Browning Trial for: On 10th November 1907 at Tempsford, feloniously breaking and entering the dwelling house of one John Scrivener, and therein feloniously did steal a silver watch chain and a cash box containing £5 in gold, four Life Assurance Policies, three Fire Insurance Policies and a Post OFFICE Savings Bank Book, the monies, goods and chattels of said John Scrivener. Previous: Petty Sessions Biggleswade 15th March 1882 Poaching - 1 Month; Petty Sessions Biggleswade 9th May 1883 Stealing Coal - 2 Months; Petty Sessions Biggleswade 24th March 1886 Stealing Beef - 2 Months. William Thrower Trial for: On 3rd December 1907, at Luton, feloniously stealing 13 handkerchiefs, of the value of 7s., the goods of Arthur James Gin. Previous: Assizes Nottingham 2nd March 1896 Arson as Henry Neal - 3 months PS (penal servitude); Quarter Sessions Bedford 1st November 1905 house breaking - 3 Months Hard Labour. Twice summarily convicted for Vagrancy. John Conway Trial for: On 12th December 1907, at Leighton Buzzard, feloniously did break and enter the shop of Robert Thomas Mallet, and therein feloniously did steal 1s 6d. of the monies, and a quantity of preserved meat and bacon the goods of he said Robert Thos. Mallet to the value of 4 shillings making altogether 5s.6d.
