Title
Account of court inquiry into the actions of Captain H.M. Tufnell of the 3/Essex Regiment who was captured at Vlakfontein on 19th September 1901 after being ordered to lead an expedition of 180 mounted men and 2 guns to clear the farm of a party of Boers by Major A.A. Fraser of 2/Bedford Regiment. The party included men from the Bedford Regiment. The inquiry exonerated Captain Tufnell and considered that the fault lay with Major Fraser who should not have sent out such an inexperienced officer.
