Letter from Deacon & Laing to Borough Engineer’s office as accompanying letter to plans 2083/22 and 2083/24 and enclosing: - Application forms dated 14 Apr 1954 - Copy of letter from Ministry of Works to Deacon & Laing – no objection to works ‘which will entail the destruction of this scheduled Monument provided we have the opportunity of making an accurate survey in plan, elevation and section together with photographs…’ 4 Mar 1954 And noting that the survey has now been completed. Proposes to close the arch for five weeks ‘It is proposed to commence the works towards the end of May when we hope that traffic to the Slaughter Yard will be diminished…’.
