- Scope and Content“ My dear Mrs Matthews, Perceiving a note from you or your daughter to your son I lose no time to inform you (returning it) that having again received instructions to go to Ilfracombe direct both from his aunt there and from home, he left early this morning, one of my tutors having safely conducted him to the station and I hope to hear he has safely arrived. I herewith beg to [?] both report and account for your son’s schooling from Xmas to midsummer and having heard from Mr Hooper that it is jour intention that he should not return after Midsummer may I ask whether – no notice having been given last quarter, a quarters notice being stipulated in my prospectus – with a reduction of terms almost to a third nor had I the slightest inclination of it till the 5th June a few days before our close – that quarter is understood to be paid? Also, I should much prefer it were it possible for him to return for that quarter that we may do as much as possibly can for him for the short term. I think you will be pleased with the report in which he received a good character and a prize of both of which he is wtriing. I remain yours faithfully G Friedlander.”
