Letter from Henrietta Ann Matthews to her brother, Thomas J Hooper. Sent from 35 High St Newport. Has received another letter re. Bixby. Cordy has seen Mr Winter “Mr W told him it was all his own fault, that he had not given the security he had promised and had brought you down on a fool’s errand… Mr Winter thinks it would be well to let him have it for Moss will not take to anything except the premises (no fixtures etc) and would not think of giving more than £150…”

Has received money from Moreton. Mrs Hallen says she may know some of the governors of Christ Church Hospital and will write to the Duke of Richmond and the member for Chichester as her father is a medical man and attends them. Cordy has just seen Mr Winter, he has insured his life for £500 would that be any use as security? Telegraph “let or not let" but do not mention names Mr W says nor enter too much into particulars, for it would be all over the country soon.”
