  • Scope and Content
Can give no information about Mrs Bird or Rev Howell. Lawrence & Goodman were the architects employed by Mr Graham to build nos 31 & 32 York Place, I do not know what year they were erected, but it is within ten years – I live in No.30 north west of the house now inhabited by Mr Bowen, and Mrs Summers has lately bought her house of Mr Graham (No.32) which is South east of No.31. I return to Newport on Saturday and will then make any enquiries you wish (if you will let me know) and if I can find anything out I will write you word – I have insured the house but will take no further steps until I hear from you that I may safely do so. Do not give yourself any more trouble dear Tom about it for perhaps it is not the house that the Lord intends me to go to, if so, in time the right place either to buy or rent, will be shewn me. I enclose a letter from Frank (also received today) I do not know whether I told you that some months ago he wrote wishing if possible to have his £300, but I told him that until he was 23 he could only have £100 – so now dear Tom, I should be very much obliged if you will kindly send it to him at once. I am sure Willie will let me have the money for him now if you cannot conveniently spare it, (as you are likely to be called on for the amount for me) I will write him a line today about it. All here are pretty well. Liz writes in fondest love to you.”
