- Scope and ContentFollowed the burning tar barrel accompanied by Mr Gillham as far as Mr Spencers who told them that Mr Jones would certainly shoot them if they went up to his house. Opposite Mr Austin's house he heard Mr Jones cautioning the mob '...for God's sake go away or I shoot you, don't irritate me.' He then ran wilth Gillham up the lane and some spent shot hit him on the hat 'and I thought I had better retreat.' Some of the men in the crowd were disguised. The following day two of his men, Burr and Cox, admitted being 'in the row last night.'
