    Was at the White Hart, Luton, house of Charles Hester from 5 p.m. till past 8 o'clock; then went to Mr William's house, then down the Bedford Road and afterwards crossed into Dunstable Lane. There he saw a mob rolling a pitch barrel towards Mr Richard Jones' house. As he was going down the hill he saw, by the light of the barrell, Mr Jones with a gun in his hand standing at the upstairs window of his house. Deponent was some twenty yards from the mob, did not shout or throw stones or use any fireworks but as he passed the house 'felt myself woulded in the face, head, shoulder, hip, leg and little finger of the left hand ... I turned round and saw Mr Jones at his window - I saw smoke from the gun.' He did not say anything to Mr Jones, thinking that if he did 'he might shoot at me again.' In a minute after there was a large mob around me' but as soon as he got out of the crowd he went home. He has been unable to work since because of the wound in his shoulder. Four days afterwards, on Sunday, he went to Mr Jones and asked 'for some recompence for what he had done.' Jones told him to 'go and seek it where you can' and 'If I do not hear from you soon you shall from me.'
