  • Scope and Content
He missed a hempen stall tilt which was new and cost nearly £3. He heard that William Pressland, Henlow, labourer, had tried to sell a tilt to Mr Pepper who kept the White Horse, Biggleswade. Afterwards he heard from the constable of Biggleswade that William Pressland had sold it to James Millard, 'who drives Mr Carrington's wagon' for 3s.6d. He found that this was his tilt cloth; arrested Pressland at Hitchin Market himself and handed him over to the constable of Hitchin. See also QSR1818/186, 187, 281, 282, 533.
