Information of Thomas Sanderson of Roxton. Hearing a noise in the early morning his wife woke him. He saw Thomas Jarvis and William Jefferies leave their houses and go off down the street. On their return they were carrying sacks on their backs, As they got to his gate, Sanderson, who was out of sight, but waiting for then, said ‘these are nice goings on.’ Jarvis dropped his sack and ran but he took Jefferies sack which was full of wood and put it into his granary. Jarvis later returned without the sack. After telling Thomas Stearn of these happenings he saw Jarvis go into Mr Scooby’s yard and overheard them talking about the matter and discussing whether they ought to go away. Jefferies later begged his pardon.
