  • Scope and Content
Information of William Roberts: He was sent for to go to the Bell at Hockliffe, when James Dolemore was delivered up to him together with a small trunk by Joseph Moss, ostler at the Bell. Having lost his trunk 'soon after tea in the morning' he suspected James Dolemore and saw him go by the Bell stables. As soon as Dolemore saw him he ran off, but he and Samuel Puddephatt went in pursuit. They caught him, after going over two closes, lying in a 'ditch upon his face' ; the trunk was in the field about 30 yards away. The trunk contained a watch, 2 guineas in silver, 3 pennies, one neck handkerchief, a little pocket handkerchief and a pair of white gloves.Information of Samuel Puddephatt: Similar to information of William Roberts.Further information of Joseph Moss: His little trunk was usually kept in a chest standing in a store room of the Bell.
