'The examinant being duly sworn saith that she is the daughter of one Robert Raby late of the parish of Sandy, and that her said father and mother had to travel the country and sell goods for their living, and that they had a boy that went with them for some years, but used to beg for his living, and being a friendless child her said father and mother constantly found him lodging in a barn for the time travelled with them which she thinks was about five or six years, and likewise saith that this person who calls himself Thomas Raby and pretends to be the son of her father is the boy that travelled with them as aforesaid, and this examinant farther upon her oath saith that her father and miohter never had a son, and that the said boy when he was with her parents went some times by one name and some by another but that she knows nothing where he was born or whp he was...'
