    Examinations and depositions: examination of James Maddams, Clophill, farmer. A 'plough share, a coulter and the cock and a shiner' were stolen from a plough in his field at Clophill. He suspects James Hall, same, labr. because he was out drinking at the Green Man, Clophill on Saturday night and went from there to William Smart's house in Clophill, Back Street with a bottle of beer and stopped there until between 1 & 2 on Sunday morning. Examination of William Smart. Jame Hall came to his house with Christopher Willmore, Jeremiah Odell and Allen Odell; he and the rest 'partook of the beer about a gallon more or less'. They were in his house for an hour and a half; after they left he locked the door and went to bed. Examination of George Wilmore (Willmore). His son was not in when he went to bed at half past eight but was home when he got up at half past four the following morning. Examination of James Hall. Christopher Willmore and Allen Odell broke the plough after breaking three gates on the farm belonging to Samuel Taylor. They separated at 3 am.
