    Examinations and depositions: Information of John Dawson, Ridgmont. He saw Edward Archard and Samuel Cowell [Corvell] with a large hurdle pass through a gate near his house at 2 a.m.. He asked Mr Roote, Ridgmont, publican for whom he frequently worked 'and has very often seen and particularly noticed the said hurdle which was of a larger size than common hurdles & was made of sallow and ash wood ... and he is not certain whether there was any maple wood in it'. About 3 a.m. he heard a noise in Samuel Cowell's house 'like the chopping of wood'. Edward Archard is a lodger in Samuel Cowell's house and has been in Ridgmont about a month. He has been employed in cleaning and pruning fruit trees. Information of J D Roote. Examinations of Edward Archard.
