While in the parlour of the Crown, paying for straw plait he and his wife had purchased at Luton Market that day, Mary Hawkins reported the theft to him. Went to White's stall where he found a basket with a parcel of straw plait tied up in a handkerchief. He had examined the straw plait which he had purchased in Luton before he left the town and discovered that he had lost 2 parcels of straw plait.
