  • Scope and Content
Had thought of 26th May for a suitable day for us if you could come down for the day. Frank and Mary have made a new rock garden, their garden has been pretty lately with polyanthus & daffs…they hope to be able to buy Sunnyside some day. Mention of Winston Churchill. Various news of people at Bierton. Everyone enjoyed party although rained most of the day. Dudeneys people arrived about 9.30 with tables & chairs in one van then the kitchen in another. The old Brewhouse – garage looked quite nice – just whitewashed & a fire in the big old fireplace. All arrived soon after 12 and went out to the garage at 1. Bill made a speech ‘said he’d done a good many things in the old brew house but he never thought he’d make a speech in it –He recalled that it was a good means of escape when Pop might be wanting him…’ Wished John and family safe journey and thanked them for the TV set. Gill presented two stone jars for the church from the grandchildren. Flowers from daughters in law and salesman. Only Jenny and Greg absent, Greg has had measles. John & Thyra coming over for last 6 days of their holiday on the 15th. Thankful not going back by Comet – how John came home – same service as the one that has just crashed [2/5/1953]. Another ceremony a week last Saturday when asked to plant 2 oak trees in the hall field by the Village Produce Association to commemorate the Coronation.
