Have had the drawing room papered. Glad they will come a little later on the 1st May as would rather have them to herself. Mrs Nash [Dorothy’s mother] will be the only one beyond the immediate family. John and Thyra at Tempsford ‘it is a very old cottage, in fact the original Anchor Hotel’ Nice for John & George to be near each other as they always were great pals as children. Giles is a frequent visitor as he likes to watch the children’s programme on TV at tea time. Bessie Horwood’s death. Bishop of Bedford in motoring accident [21/4/1953]. Duke of Bedford ‘he is not very popular about here, he is a communist I suppose or has those ideas…’
