Starting letter before listening to old time dance music. Thyra’s bad cold after Christmas not shaken off and she has been in hospital. Ike has a chill. Olive away as Gertie and aunts moving. Glad to hear Betty and Denise better and that Tom has had a good sale. Joe’s letter in the DT ‘I don’t really understand the rights of it but Ike said it (Joe’s) was very good – but I can well imagine some of the old fashioned farmers not agreeing!! He has had a big mail since, some agreeing – some not.’ Wonders what they will do about the coronation and if Joe and Miriam and boys will go. Lovely pictures of the Dalkeith wedding [10 Jan 1953]. Joyce busy getting a book ready to present to the Queen ‘It is some records of Elizabethan times to do with Bedford & is to be specially printed on special paper & bound with the EIIR on the front.’
